MSNBC is reporting that former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work on climate changes and their affect on the environment. Mr. Gore has already won an Academy Award for his film An Inconvenient Truth.
Gore said in a statement:
We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity.
We’re starting to see that the environment is a global issue and an economic issue. What will be the cost, both monetarily and socially, of not taking a hard look at what is being done to our environment?
Let me know what you think!
