Do You Love Your Job? A Credit Card Evaluation

May 20, 2008

Chicken Dance

Do you love your job? I mean really love it. I know there are people out there that do truly love their jobs but most people would be real happy if you told them they could quit today without losing their pay.

Next question – Do you have debt on your credit cards? If you do how did you answer the first question? Let’s assume you don’t love your job (which I believe is what most people would answer). If you have credit card debt then you are paying a premium for the items you charge. This premium isn’t just the interest rates you are paying. The premium is your life as well!

Let me explain. You go to work, spending the day working hard earning a living at a place you don’t enjoy. You work to afford your home, your lifestyle. But when you have credit card debt who are you working for? Not only are you working somewhere you don’t like you are also working for the credit card company. You’re putting in your 9-5, traveling back and forth to work to put money in the pockets of the credit card companies.

You’re putting your life into your credit cards!

I don’t mean to come off all screaming or anything. I just want you to take stock in your situation. Is it worth working like you do to pay off your credit cards? Is it worth your time and energy for the charges you made? Only you can answer this.

I wrote last week about credit card debt weighing you down. Go check that out for some quick tips to start getting rid of credit card debt.

Oh, if you love your job I’m in no way saying it’s ok to have credit card debt. I’m just trying to illustrate what we’re giving up when we dislike our jobs and have credit card debt.

I’m a big fan of credit cards and a mediocre fan of my job. :) I pay my card off each month now, but there was a time… ;)
