rainbows, hearts, sun, sprinkles

Just finished off a great 4th of July weekend! Didn’t really do anything exciting.  More like hung around and enjoyed spending time with the family and some friends.  We’ve also been enjoying our new kitchen which was finally completed.  It’s nice to have home-cooked meals again!  Oh, By the way, if you’re outside for a few hours and it’s an overcast day you still need to wear sunscreen (as evidenced by the slight burn on my neck and face)!

I’m still working out on the One Hundred Pushup program!  I’ll be starting week 3 shortly.  You can follow my progress here.  Week three is starting to really look tough.  I hope I can keep up.  Wish me luck!

Here are the Carnivals I participated in last week:

The Carnival of Personal Finance #159 - First Zero Emmissions City was hosted by Greener PasturesNew York State Empire Passport was included.

The Carnival of Money Stories #66 was hosted by My Good Cents.  My Sprint SERO Plan Follow Up was included.

Festival of Frugality #132 - Frugal Is As Frugal Does Edition was hosted by Budgets Are Sexy which included my post One Hundred Pushups for a Healthy Fit Frugal Summer.

Money Hacks Carnival #19 - The Independence Edition was hosted by Sound Money Matters.  Go check out my post Our Disney World Vacation.

Here are some gems I starred from my Google Reader:

Lose Weight While Spending Less on Food and Exercise by The Digerati Life.  Great tips that make a lot of sense!

The Letter Always Wins at Wise Bread (via Lifehacker).  A physical letter is still a great way to file a complaint with a company.  Maybe companies figure that a person who is willing to write a letter is likely to be a Maven per Gladwell’s The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference?

Will the Government Raid Roth IRA’s? at Brip Blap.  Think the gov’t would ever tax you Roth in the future?  Kind of a scary thought but there are some interesting arguments in both the article and the comments.  It’s something to think about at least.

A Year in the Life of Twins at Northern Cheapskate.  A great list of thoughts on what you need if you’re having twins.

The Minimalist Kitchen at The Simple Dollar.  Did I mention that our kitchen was just finished?  Now we have to make sure we don’t fill it up with clutter!

Personal Finance Blog Networks at Mighty Bargain Hunter.  It’s pretty wild having the Money Life Network mentioned along-side networks like Money Blog Network, The Money Writers, M-Network, and Personal Finance Network.  I’m subscribed to so many of the sites included in those groups!  There is a lot of great information to be found.

And now for the Money Life Network:
