Whoa!  Crazy week huh? WaMu is no more.  The gov’t is trying to pass a HUGE bailout plan.  On the bright side, I’m running a great big blogoversary contest where three lucky winners can win an Amazon gift card (Hank over at MiB has a contest up too)!  Make sure you sign up and tell your friends.  There are a ton of ways to enter!

Now for some carnivals!

The Carnival of Personal Finance #171: Celebrate Fall Edition was hosted by Sound Money Matters.  I have the honor of being an Editor’s Pick for my article Personal Finance In One Simple Equation.  I know it’s a ways off but I found out this week that I’ll get to host the CofPF the week of December 8th!

Colloquium once again hosted the Carnival of Family LifeFree Museum Days From Bank Of America was included.

The Yanks have Mariano and the Money Hacks Carnival has Moolanomy who gets the save this week as the scheduled host couldn’t make it.  The American Dream Is An Illusion was included.  And guess who has another carnival to host coming up?  Yup, I’ll be hosting the Money Hacks Carnival Oct. 29th.

And from around the web:

MSN Smart Spending mentions my Free Museum Days article in Frugal Culture: Take Advantage of Museum Day.  Thanks for the mention!

From Freakonomics we get Suze Orman Answers Your Money Questions.  Go check it out.  Scroll down to that question about knowing if you have enough to buy a house.  See it?  That was my question!  I know it doesn’t attribute a name but that was my exact question.  Some good advice too!

BusinessPundit explains the whole sub-prime mortgage mess with stick figures.  It’s a little long but it does a pretty good job explaining what’s happening.

MSN Top Stocks asks what this bailout would really be buying.  The whole situation is a bit scary.

Moolanomy calls out the government for hypocrisy with their bailout plan.

What’s the tooth fairy leaving for your child?  Seems some kids are doing real well per The Passive Dad.

My Two Dollars is also questioning where the government is putting it’s money.  He’s been on a roll lately too.  Check out his articles.

Sometimes you need to get intense about your moneyPrime Time Money shows you how.

Stuff - Is it who you are?  Check out the article at Remodeling This Life.

Whaddya think, 20’s or 40’s?  I say if I only knew then what I know now…check out the poll at My Super Charged Life.

With all this doom and gloom it’s nice to hear that Pete at Bible Money Matters had a great cruise!

In case you didn’t catch it before, not only am I having a contest here but MiB Smarter Money is having a contest too!  Stop by and find out how to enter.  I’ll tell you this, in the past year I’ve learned that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it.  It’s not alwasy easy but things can be done.  Look how far Free From Broke has come!

Milk Your Money shows us 11 must see money videos.

Happy blog birthday Sense To Save!  It’s amazing to think she’s been around for only a year.

Nice blog Free From Broke. I came to you by way of Hanks contest and let me tell you this is a timely post as I am nearing my own one year blog anniversary being my own entity on the net.

As I stated to Hank on his blog there are 5 key things I have learned this year.

- Make sure you back up your old blog before you transfer hosting companies, thankfully my traffic didn’t suffer from this brain fart.

-Do listen to others who have been in the IM field longer than I have and to learn how to weed out the good information from the bad.

- Be prepared to continually learn new and emerging technologies it is crucial in this day and age.

- Never underestimate the power of a Stumble.

- Network,network,network!
