The regular baseball season is over. It’s a sure sign that summer has come to an end. It’s also a period of time I go into fantasy sports withdrawal as my fantasy baseball leagues finish. This year I was fortunate enough to take part in a rotisserie league made up mostly of personal finance bloggers. It was a lot of fun playing against people you know online and we were all playing for bragging rights. It was a tight race too for most of the season but unfortunately my team couldn’t hold onto their points lead and I ended up coming in second place. I’ll take it. The league was won by Patrick of Cash Money Life, who also set the league up for us. He was a great competitor and kept the league fun all season.
As I’ve written in the past about fantasy baseball, I find that it has a lot of similarities to personal finance. Of course if I spent as much time on investing and my finances as I do on fantasy baseball I might be a whole lot wealthier! Haha.
Here is how our league panned out (with some links as well):
First Place
Cash Money Life - Awesome competitor! I would pick up a player or make a trade and next thing you know I have an email from Patrick evaluating what I did. He definitely did his homework and deserved the win. Here are few articles you might like from him:

Second Place
Free From Broke – Although one of the most awesome bloggers this side of the Hudson, he just didn’t have enough momentum to keep his team in first place.
Third Place
Stupid Cents – This fierce competitor came on strong in the second half and certainly put fear into me. I had Patrick to catch up to and Stupid Cents to fend off. No wonder I couldn’t get out of second! Here are a couple of articles to check out:

I had a lot of fun playing and all of these teams were great competition! I hope we can do it again next year. Make sure you go and check out these sites as they have some wonderful personal finance information!

Had a great time this season, and I hope I can repeat next year if you are up for it!

Patrick´s last blog ..Should You Rollover a 401k into an IRA?
Well, we can play next year but you’ll have to get past me in order to repeat your championship!
Thanks for the mention. Not sure if I deserved it, but man, did I learn a lot.
This was my first time playing a full season of fantasy baseball (as if anyone in the league couldn’t figure out after the first month), so I’m thankful to have crawled out of the basement after the All Star Break.
So many similarities can be drawn between personal finance/investing and fantasy baseball that it’s scary! Not doing adequate research, trading too much versus buy & hold, can go on and on.
Congrats to Patrick, FFB and Stupid Cents for taking top spots!
Everyone deserves a mention! I think there were a lot of different experience levels in the league and of course life sometimes gets in the way of extra-curricular activities. I hope you get to play next season with a year’s experience under your belt.
The league was a lot of fun. And, like Matt, I definitely learned a lot too. I can’t wait for next year! Congrats to Patrick and the winners!

I hope to see you there next year! I think it will be a lot tougher next season with the experience everyone had.
