Hey, do you like Pearl Jam? Wanna free live single from their Austin City Limits performance? Pearl Jam are offering up their live single, Just Breathe, for the whopping price of one tweet. Head over to the Just Breathe site and connect to Twitter to post the tweet. You have to allow the application access to your Twitter account. This is how they count that your tweet.
When you accept you are brought back to the Just Breathe site where you click Tweet This to send your tweet. Note that this also makes you follow @pearljam (not a problem at all for me).
Once your tweet is sent the next page on the site shows a download code in iTunes for your free download. There’s a download button that will bring you to iTunes where you sign in and enter your code (you have to have an iTunes account to get the song).
Voila! Free song!
This is an awesome offer on Pearl Jam’s part. They give back to the fans and build awareness for their album, Backspacer, at the same time. With the music industry hurting for some time now, bands have to come up with better ways to market themselves and social media is one way I think we’ll see used more and more. NIN have been doing it for years.
And the site also points you to a YouTube performance as well. Great song! I love the acoustic turn Vedder has been taking here and on the Into The Wild soundtrack (and the guitar geek in me sweats the fact that Eddie’s guitar, yeah I call him Eddie now, looks like the one I have)!
