Can We Get To Thanksgiving First?!?

by

We’re a little past a week from Halloween. It’s only just started getting dark really early. Why does every store have to have it’s Christmas/Holiday stuff up already?!? We don’t even get to enjoy Thanksgiving anymore. Halloween ends and the scary masks are replaced with Santa Claus and X-Mas trees. Stores are gearing up for their holiday sales. I’ve already gotten catalogs from stores for the holiday season. I’m really sick of it. There’s no more Fall season anymore, just right into Winter wonderland. Is there anything we can do to stop this?!? Give it time and we’ll see Santa Claus in Bermuda shorts advertising after Labor Day! Hurry up! Only four months till X-Mas! What’s really insidious is all the toy commercials coming out. I notice this with my daughter. During commercial breaks I hear her say out loud “ooooh I want that!” Or “that’s so cool, you’ve got to see this!” I really hope the malls don’t start piping the holiday music in yet. I don’t know if I can take it!

Know what’s really scary? It works! I was in a store today looking at things I’d love to get for the holidays. My wallet and cash are not allowed out of my pocket!

How do you feel about early X-Mas advertising? Let me know!

We stopped in a Toys R Us for a birthday present three weeks ago (pre-halloween!) and the Christmas music had already started… Trust me, the malls are playing it the day after Halloween if not sooner. I worked in a mall three years and it was three years too many — plus my hubby and i were both born near Christmas (19th & 25th) so neither of us can stand it!

I knew I wasn’t the only one sensing this! What I find unfortunate is all this consumerism just makes me want the holidays to end that much sooner. No matter what you are doing there seems to be this constant buzz to buy, buy, buy.

I can only imagine the torture of hearing the mall music every day!

It’s not only the malls, I was in WalMart grocery store the other day and it was Christmas music.

When I was a child (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) the Christmas Season began after Thanksgiving. Now, I’m not exaggerating when I say the stores like Big Lots have had items in since BEFORE Halloween!

Stop the madness!

BTW, this is my first time at your site, but it won’t be the last!

I vote to remove the X-mas moniker from the season. We should call it like it is: Go out and buy stuff season!
