Festive Link Love Carnivality #12

by

Welcome to the 11th Festive Link Love Carnivality! Exciting happenings this week as I announced my personal finance tipping point contest. Here are the rules:

I’m giving away a $25 Amazon gift certificate. There are three ways to enter:

  1. Leave a comment on this post telling me your personal finance tipping point. It can either be the moment you realized you needed to fix your finances or that point where you discovered you were finally in the black. Make sure you leave a valid email address in the comment. This will give you one (1) entry.
  2. Subscribe either to my feed or via email. There will be a secret phrase at the bottom. Email me using my contact form and tell me the secret phrase. This will give you five (5) entries. (Note: If you are already subscribed you can still email me the secret phrase)
  3. If you have your own blog, write about your personal finance tipping point and link back to me. Email me through my contact form with your link. This can be a full-on post or a quick few sentences in a round-up. This will give you ten (10) entries.

You can enter each way once. I’ll put all of the entries into an online randomizer to choose the winner. Entries can be submitted up to 11:59 am Friday, June 13th. I’ll contact the winner to email the gift certificate. If the email address is not valid I will award the prize to the next email address in the randomizer. (I reserve the right to not include any entrants I consider SPAM).

At the moment there are around one hundred entries. You still have time to get in so let’s see those comments, posts, and the secret phrase!

Thanks for including me! I totally loved the Indy piece. I’m a sucker for anything Dr. Jones.

My tipping point was turning 41. It was just a big slap in the face. Turning 40 didn’t do it, that one was anticipated, but hitting 41 just put me over the edge with realizing that I only had 24 years until I hit 65. You can accomplish a lot in 24 years, but I realized that I was far behind where I needed to be. I started seeking information on personal finances and discovered several of the big PF blogs. I looked at where I should be (finance wise) and knew the jig was up. I had to get everything in order.

My down and out point is when my husband said it is your family or your spending problem. I now belong to debtor’s anonymous. Please enter me in your drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

My tipping point was when we sat down, and realized that we were spending more each month on eating out than we were on groceries.

I’m late to responding here. Thanks for all of the submissions to the PF Tipping Point contest!

@ Sara – No prolem. Loved the post. We’re in for a major re-organizing at home!

@Ron – Not sure if you are truly behind but I know there are people out there who are at retirement age and still not prepared!

@ Caveman – You’re welcome

@ Cindi – Glad to see you made the right choice!

@ Channah – We try to be conscious of that. It’s easy to go out all the time but for us it’s just too expensive!

@ David – Thanks!
