I’d like to introduce a new series: Friday Franklin. Every Friday I’ll give you a Benjamin Franklin quote that relates to money or personal finance. As a founding father Franklin brought a lot of wisdom to our nations creation. Reading through some of the things he’s said you can tell that he truly was wise as his advice is still relevant today.
Here we go for today:
Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one.
Benjamin Franklin
Deep stuff! What do you think?

Love the quote. One interpretation is acquiring money may seem like a game to some and they spend what they acquire and so need to acquire more money to keep up the lifestyle that they have gotten used to.
Nice quote. It’s human nature, I think, how we get what we want then we want more. Sometimes we think, ‘if only we have just a little more money, our problems would go away’ when actually most of our problems aren’t even tied to money.
@ Double – Unfortunately it does seem like a game to some. You nailed that!
@JMom – Not sure if it’s so much human nature. I think we’re programmed to feel like that through constant advertising that makes us want to keep up with the Jonses. I think we can break out of that habit but it is tough and takes awareness.
