Happy Birthday America! On this day 232 years ago the original thirteen colonies officially declared independence from from the British Empire.
Through all of the sacrifices the many peoples of this country have made I ask you here now – Are you independent?
Do you have financial independence? Are you independent from wants? How about location independent? Independence from credit card debt? Independent of work? Financial freedom from your family?
Just throwing some thoughts out there to ponder. Only you can answer about your independence.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

What I love about the USA is our freedom to develop new ideas and be compensated for our efforts.
Happy 4th indeed! I think that I’m relatively financially independent, but it’s a pretty broad topic. We’ve still got a handful of years to go, but at this point, yep, I’m good there.
I always feel like such a weirdo – cause I’m not a big material “wanter-in-life.” I’m pretty easily satisfied and content. Travel is probably my only material want … but doesn’t that kind of lean more towards “experiences.” So I guess I’d have to say I’m pretty free from “wants.” We are still 100% credit card debt free … and our mortgage & student loan debt is snowflaking it’s way to be paid in full by 2015. Rock on!!!

I think independence is everyone’s right, and it can be achieved in many places, not just the USA. Here in Canada we had a great July 1st week as well – although, I was actually in the US at the time!
As for financial independence, it’s been my goal as soon as I understood that one needed to have money just to get by in this world:) Financial freedom from family is also very important to me.
Very thought-provoking. It’s kind of strange to think that, despite so much freedom, many are in the change of financial bondage.
Freedom is there if you want it and you are willing to work and fight for it. Otherwise you are indentured to someone else.
