July, where have you gone?!? You came and went so quick! It feels like only a few days ago I was asking what financial independence meant. Now we’re in August and I’m feeling like the Summer is slipping away. Not that I haven’t been making the best of it. Taking advice from my Frugal Things To Do In NYC article I went with the family to the Bronx Zoo and we’ve been taking advantage of out New York State Empire Passport by going to the beach. I’m also looking forward to some vacation days I have next week. We’re working on a nice driving adventure. Might even visit some places from the Frugal Things To Do series.
I’ve been trying to stay in shape for the Summer. I’m now entering week 5 in the One Hundred Pushups challenge. The workouts have not been getting easier! But I do feel stronger so they have been working.
On the site front I haven’t been writing as much as I would like. Work has been busy and at home we’ve been working on getting a new car (which I’ll write about another time) and I’ve been spending my free time playing with the kids and what not. I’m not saying July hasn’t been productive. July brought two new members to the Money Life Network as well as the aforementioned Things To Do series.
Subscribers to Free From Broke have gone up about 25% !! Thank you all who have subscribed! If you haven’t yet, what are you waiting for (subscribe to my feed here)?!? Total visits have gone down slightly while page views have gone up. This means the people who do drop by are looking through more of the site. I’m ok with that!

Another site came up close behind, Personal Finance Buzz. It’s kind of like a Digg for personal fianance articles. If you haven’t checked out the site yet then head over there! It’s been growing since it’s inception and contains a lot of the best articles written about personal finance!
The top commentators for July were:
Thank you for being the Top Commentators!! I love that people drop by and leave responses to articles I’ve written. Of course there were many others who commented as well. I wish I could list you all. Make sure to come back and comment and you might be on this list next month!

Congrats on the growth!! I’m happy to have sent readers your way!
That photo makes me want to go sailing…
@ Emily – Thanks! Hopefully I’ve sent a few your way as well. Th pic makes me want to go to a Caribbean beach!
FFB, you are a machine with the pushups! Few people have finished the 100 pushup challenge so far, maybe you will be the first from the “PF” world. Good luck the next two weeks.
@ Sean – Now you got me all blushing. Thanks though. I’m only halfway to the mark so I have a loong way to go!
Any time
Great work on the site progress. Glad to be sending readers over. Good luck with topping it all next month.
Glad to help where I can!
Glad to have been able to send you some traffic!
Here’s to a new month!
@ PT, Hank, and Digerati Life – Thanks you again for stopping by and the mentions!
Congrats, FFB – good to see your blog grow so quickly. I think the lower number of visits might also be due to summer lulls, people on vacation? A slow opening week with both Canadian and US holidays… ? Here’s hoping to a revved-up month for August!
@ Money Energy – I’m not too worried about the visitor count dropping a bit. I think it’s what you say, a lot of vacations and such in the Summer time. Part of it is my own Summeritis. I haven’t been writing as much as previous months.
Thanks for the mention & congrats!
Glad I could send some traffic over.
@ RC – You’re welcome for the mention!
