PerkStreet Financial, the online bank with free checking, has posted their 5% cashback categories for debit card spending in June (yes, it’s a free online checking account that offers cashback rewards when you spend!). They like to call them PowerPerks.

For June you are encouraged to take the family out with 5% cashback at the following restaurants:

• Applebee’s
• Cheesecake Factory
• Chili’s Grill and Bar
• The Olive Garden
• TGI Friday’s
• Outback Steakhouse

 

Personally, we don’t eat out much, but we do go to The Cheesecake Factory every once and a while.  The challenge there is to not order a meal so big that you can’t eat the cheesecake afterward!  And let me tell you, it’s quite a challenge.  We usually bring the cheesecake back home to eat.

June is a great time for this deal since you have Father’s Day, graduations, and heck, there are a lot of anniversaries in June too.  If you plan to take the family out to celebrate you might as well get 5% cashback as well, right?

Here’s the deal – When you make a non-signature purchase on your PerkStreet debit card (you know, when you put it through as credit but it still comes from your checking account) at the six family restaurants above you get a 5% cashback bonus.

What if you don’t visit any of these restaurants? Since PerkStreet is pretty innovative, they still offer up to 2% cashback on all other purchases.  For the first 90 days of a new account you earn 2% cashback.  After the 90 days are up you earn 2% when your balance is greater than $5,000 and 1% when it’s less than $5,000.

And that cashback bonus? You can also use it for free songs or free coffee.  Your choice.

Details: The amount you can earn at the 5% cash back bonus rate is limited to $250 per household annually (starting on the day your account was opened).
