If you recall, I wrote about how we are going to save on our landscaping by mowing the lawn ourselves. Well, the first mow is done! The mowing part wasn’t hard at all and was pretty quick. The edging and blowing were the time sucks. It’s all a matter of getting used to the process though. In all I’d say it was a success and we look forward to breaking even on our lawn equipment costs. Next up – get the lawn full of grass and not weeds!

Thanks for including my blog in the roundup!
Glad I could include it!
I’ve been living in a townhome for the last 4 years, and landscaping is included in our monthly fees. We recently put our home on the market, so cutting the lawn is something I’m going to need to get used to again! But you’re right – it’s all about getting a process running. Once you do, it doesn’t take so long. Thanks for the mention!
I certainly appreciate our co-op a bit more where they had a crew take care of the lawn every week!
I think the process fro me will come along quickly enough. Good luck with selling your place!
I’m living downtown this summer, and I still come home to my parent’s place to cut the grass. As crazy as it sounds, I actually enjoy cutting the grass. I get my tunes on and just enjoy they moment.
My iPod needed a charge when I went to mow. I also wanted to be real aware the first time I did it. But I can definitely see myself enjoying some tunes while I take care of things down the road.
Where do your parents live? Maybe you can come by my place and do the lawn too? Haha. It’s cool that you help out the ‘rents.
Thanks for the mention Craig!
Mowing wouldn’t be so bad except I have 13 trees along the fence in my backyard… almost impossible to mow around! Next spring I might put some fancy gravel around the outside and just keep the centre bit with grass.
My pleasure on the mention Tom!
Our place is a long-ish rectangle for the most part so it’s just back and forth for me. I can definitely see having different landscaping as posing a problem!
I’m considering some rocks or gravel in the garden part near the foundation so there’s less water in the soil up against the house.
Thanks for including GreenSherpa!
You’re welcome Ashley!
