Shred Your Credit Card is a partnership between PerkStreet Financial and Lending Tree to help encourage people that they CAN get out of debt. They recently held a video contest where they gave away over $2,000. Contestants uploaded videos of themselves creatively destroying their credit card or telling something about their journey to get out of debt.
Free From Broke was honored to be a blog partner of the contest and for that I was able to pick one video as a winner of a $25 gift card.
I chose a video by Nidrea Roberson titled – Starting New.
In the video (embedded below) Nidrea tells viewers why credit debt is bad then she takes action on quest quest to be debt free by taking a lighter to her credit card.
What I liked about this video is it was a personal story. Many of the submitted videos contained great film-work but Nidrea’s video told her story in a simple fashion and showed her determination to be free of credit card debt.

Time ran out to enter the Shred Your Credit Card video contest is over but that doesn’t mean you don’t have time to eliminate your debt! Use this year as the year you become debt free (especially of credit cards).

I noticed Nidrea didn’t burn the swipe strip on the credit card, which means that she could still use it. I would have much rather seen a shredder do the job!
That $1000 winner was one of my readers! gotta love it – just wish i got a portion of the proceeds.
