Tagged In A Book Meme

by

There’s a lot of tagging going around lately. Yesterday I was tagged at beingfrugal.net to give an update on my 2008 financial goal. Today I’m tagged by Finance and Fat in a book meme. Ha, I just got a mental image of a bunch of bloggers running around playing tag like they were in third grade… But I digress. The rules of the book meme are:
  • Grab the nearest book with at least 123 pages
  • Open it to page 123
  • Count down five sentences
  • Type the next three sentences in your blog
Let’s see what we’ve got (looking around). Ah, in my bag is Neuromancer by William Gibson. I just picked this up at the library on Saturday (lucky for you I’m not carrying my economics text book).

Let’s take a look at Page 123, starting on the sixth sentence:

In the Dream, just before he drenched the nest with fuel, he’d seen the T-A logo of Tessier-Ashpool neatly embossed onto it’s side, as though the wasps themselves had worked it there.
Molly insisted on coating him with bronzer, saying his Sprawl pallor would attract too much attention.
“Christ,” he said, standing naked in front of the mirror, “you think that looks real?”

Wow! What’s that all about? I have an idea since I read this book years ago but I’ll leave it up to your curiosity to check the book out. If you like science fiction and you haven’t read this yet go out and get this immediately! Did you like The Matrix? Taken from Neuromancer! The book was first published in 1984 (kind of fitting) and was way ahead of it’s time then as well as now.

Now to pass this game along. No one wants to be the kid in the schoolyard that can’t tag anyone.

I got hit!

That’s twice now… Mrs. Micah tagged me the other day as well. I have a book review Friday, so that is a great time to roll these together. :)

That’s a pretty clever meme if I may say so. I will certainly write one up tonight when I get home from work. Yes, I do work. Thanks for hitting me up.

I guess you finished the 4-hour workweek already ehh?

@Patrick – Sorry for the dupe hit! Guess you have to grab two books now?

@Hank – This kind of war I can support!

@Locomono – Yeah finished 4-Hour Work Week. If I was tagged early last week that would have been the book I grabbed. Real interesting book by the way! Can’t thank you enough for sending it my way!

@Eden – Yeah, it’s a nice fun post that gives us a little insight into each other as well as bonds our friendship as bloggers. Lotta Link love too!

@Pete – Mine was different huh? How so? Glad you found it interesting. And thanks for subscribing! It means a lot!

It was different in the fact that it was just odd.. a naked man standing in front of a mirror putting on bronzer. strange.

Most of the other meme posts i’ve seen have been from personal finance books, dictionaries or tech manuals. :)

Hmmm…I guess that is a different visual image I gave.

As important as personal finance books are I think you still have to stay rounded out. I read a bunch of them but find it’s helpful to let the book sink in before reading another.
