The 30 year run of the space shuttle program has come to an end with 135 missions under its belt and 2 craft tragically lost. While the US retools and prepares for the their next government funded craft (designed for deeper space missions) and commercially developed crafts capable of reaching the International Space Station, American astronauts will use Russian flights to reach the ISS.
