Are you, or someone you know, having a baby this December? If so, you may be able to win $5,000 from TurboTax! With child expenses as they are, who couldn’t use $5,000?
TurboTax is looking for America’s Cutest Little Tax Deduction. Parents can go to CutestTaxDeduction.com and upload a photo of their newborn, born between December 1-31, 2009. They have until January 7th, 2010 to upload a photo. (Check the site for the specific rules).
Too bad for us our little one was born in July; we’re not eligible (ok, not really too bad, we just don’t qualify). That’s probably better for everyone else since our little princess would win by a landslide anyway.
Check this out: According to Tax Break, the TurboTax blog, a typical family will spend about $221,000 raising a child through age 17. Ouch! We have three rugrats. That’s $663,00!! They might have to start finding jobs for themselves (just kidding, no really, get a job, nah just kidding). It’s a pretty staggering number but raising a child is priceless in so many ways (but if you wanted to go get a job that would help, just kidding).
So if you’re expecting this December get your newborn’s picture up in the contest. Five thousand dollars could be a great start on college savings!
