TurboTax Premier 2010 Giveaway – Make Sure You Get Your Taxes In By April 18

by

Tax Day, this year April 18th, is right around the corner. If you haven’t filed yet, what are you waiting for?!?

In case you haven’t even started I’m here to help with a TurboTax giveaway.  Well, me and my friends at TurboTax.  They have graciously offered up two (2) free copies of their TurboTax Premier online 2010 software (TurboTax 2010 review).

Here are some features of the Premium version:

  • Transfers last year’s tax info to help ensure accuracy and save you time
  • Imports W-2 and 1099 forms from over 100,000 employers and financial institutions
  • Free technical support by phone
  • Quickly searches for more than 350 deductions
  • Gives you accurate values for your donations
  • Alerts you to audit risks and offers tips to reduce your chance of an audit
  • Calculates gains and helps you deduct investment losses
  • Finds tax-saving rental property deductions
  • Guides you through reporting sales from employee stock purchase plans (ESPP)

This software is good for one free Federal and State return plus e-file.

In order to enter, leave a comment below telling me you want to be entered (easy, right). Make sure you leave a valid email address (otherwise I can’t reach you and I’ll have to pick another winner).

Here are the details for the giveaway:

You have until Sunday, April 10th, 2011 at 10 pm EST to leave a comment in order to qualify for the giveaway.  Once I have all of the entries I’ll assign a number to each and use a random number generator (random.org) to pick the two winners.  I’ll then contact you via email if you won (make sure you leave a valid email address).  You have 24 hours to respond.  I’ll then send you the code and instructions to get you on your way to taking care of your taxes.  If you are picked as a winner and don’t respond, I’ll pick another winner.  (Make sure freefrombroke [at] gmail.com is in your address book so my email won’t go to spam if you win!).  Only one entry per person/email.  If I think your email is spam I will eliminate it.

Go leave a comment now to be entered!

And here are a couple of last minute tips to help those who haven’t started their returns yet:

- You still have time to put money into an IRA for year 2010, either a Roth or Traditional.

- If you think you can’t get your return together in time you can file for an income tax extension.  Just remember you still have to pay what you think you will owe in taxes now.

- If you are mailing in a paper return, make sure it is post-marked by April 18th (I suggest you have it sent certified, return-receipt to make sure it was received and signed for).

Any other tips to help out those last-minute filers?

I’d like to be entered! I’m employed full-time after being unemployed at the beginning of last year AND have a burgeoning side business for my photography! (You can check out my latest work, a photo-a-day series for Lent: mcgheestreet.wordpress.com) Turbo Tax would definitely help me figure out a complicated tax year, which I’ve been avoiding.
