Hi, I’m Glen Craig+ and welcome to Free From Broke – Where We Make Personal Finance Easy For You!
I want to help you stay FREE FROM BROKE!
Back in the day, I worked paycheck to paycheck trying to get the bills paid and making sure I didn’t pay my credit card bills late (well, usually).
Let me tell you, I wanted to do the right things but it didn’t always happen. I ended up thousands in debt and had no real idea how the charges added up.
I realized that paying most of my check to credit card companies then hoping I had enough to get by until the next paycheck was no way to live.
I made changes.
I reigned in my spending. I took my job seriously. I contributed to my 401(k). At one point I even moved back with my parents to get my debts paid off.
Know what?
It worked!
I was able to do a “do-over” and start my finances over the right way. In the course of learning to take care of my finances I came across personal finance blogs. I loved them! I was inspired to start my own and in October 2007 Free From Broke was born.
Why You’re Reading This
I’m glad you’re reading this because it means you’re probably interested in taking care of your personal finances and I’m here to help.
Do you have questions about handling your personal finances? Would you like to know more about your credit? Do you want to get out of debt? Do you want to understand your credit cards better?
These are just some of the topics we cover here. If you don’t find what you’re looking for then let me know!
As much as it was my financial difficulties that started this site it’s now also about you and writing about what will help your situation.
A little bit about me:
I’m married to my wonderful wife and we have four children, ages 14, 7, 4, and a 1-year-old (how I have time to take care of the site I don’t know). To say the least, it’s a challenge putting away income for savings, retirement, and general living.
Even more interesting is I’m a stay-at-home dad, watching our two youngest (the oldest is in school during the day) while my wife is the principal bread winner.
We’ve both had our experiences with credit card debt and have managed to finally get rid of it. Currently our only outstanding debt are some student loans, our car, and our house (I’ll admit that’s a LOT of debt but it’s not as destructive as our credit card debt was).
Feel free to contact me with thoughts you have on posts I’ve written or if you have any ideas you’d like to see me write about. I love hearing from readers and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I can.
I encourage readers to leave comments on articles they are interested in. I like hearing your thoughts and I think the comments sections is a nice place to build community. The only thing I ask is that you Do Not Leave SPAM! As this is my site I reserve the right to delete any comments that I deem are spammy.
