The flu season has hit with surprising force this year.
Some are calling it an epidemic while others think it is just a stronger flu season than normal. Nonetheless it seems to be everywhere across the country. Some areas are running out of flu vaccinations which isn’t helping matters. The government has set up a pretty slick website over at Flu.gov to guide you in getting through this year’s flu season.
Be sure to check with your insurance company to see if they cover flu shots. Even if they don’t most walk in clinics charge about $25. Compared to feeling ill for 7 days and having to miss work, $25 still seems like a bargain to me.

I am Canadian and flu shots are free here. Many employers offer shots at work. My community had them at local pharmacies, schools and the hockey arena.
Even though it is free most don’t get the flu shot and now the hospitals are packed to capacity and employers are having to work around high absentee rates.
I work in the health care field and I get my flu shot. I am a healthy person and the flu would not kill me but every day I am in contact with people with other underlying health conditions and I would feel very badly if I passed an illness on to them.
The shots aren’t free here but there are many low-cost options to get it here. With young kids in the house I make sure to get the shot, but before I was married I didn’t bother. With the current outbreak though I’m glad I have the shot taken care of even though it doesn’t provide 100% protection.
