Best Western Hotel Rewards – A Review

Published or updated December 6, 2012 by Melissa

Would you like the flexibility to earn hotel rewards or airline rewards with every hotel stay at a hotel chain that is in six different continents? If so, you may want to join Best Western Rewards program.

Best Western Rewards offers flexibility in the way you decide to earn points.  You can choose to earn Best Western Rewards at 10 points per dollar spent on qualifying stays at over 4,000 hotels worldwide in North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.  Or, you can choose to earn 600 Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards points, 20 AIR MILES reward miles or at least 250 airline/partner rewards per qualified stay.  (You must specify which way you would like to earn your rewards when signing up for Best Western Rewards.)

Signing up for Best Western Rewards can be done in less than 5 minutes.  You are required to give basic information such as your name, address, and e-mail address.  You can optionally give more information such as your birthday, phone number and credit card information.

Levels of Membership

Frequent stays at Best Western could qualify you for one of the Elite membership levels, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.

–Gold membership is earned after you have spent 10 nights at qualifying hotels within one calendar year.  For each dollar spent, you earn 10% bonus points, 1,000 purchase points per $10 award redemption, in addition to other Elite members only rewards.

–Platinum membership is earned after 15 nights spent at qualifying hotels within one calendar year.  For each dollar spent, you earn 15% bonus points, 1,000 purchase points per $10 award redemption, complimentary room upgrades, early check in and late check out, and other Elite members only rewards.

–Diamond membership is earned after 30 nights spent at qualifying hotels within one calendar year.  For each dollar spent, you earn 30% bonus points, 1,000 purchase points per $10 award redemption, complimentary room upgrades, early check in and late check out, and other Elite members’ only rewards.

Additional Ways to Earn Points

In addition to hotel stays, you can earn points a variety of other ways, including the following:

-Use the Best Western Rewards World MasterCard and earn 16,000 points after making initial purchase or balance transfer, earn 5,000 points for a balance transfer within the first 30 days of opening an account, get upgraded to a Best Western Elite Rewards Member after the first $6,000 purchased, earn 15 points per dollar spent at Best Western and 1 point per dollar spent everywhere else.  Best of all, this card has no annual fee.

–Rent a car through Avis and earn 1,500 reward points and save 25% on your car rental.

–Convert 1,250 Diners Club International Club Rewards points to 3,300 Best Western Rewards points.

–Earn 25 points per dollar spent on Teleflora hand arranged, delivered flowers.

-Earn 2,000 Best Western Rewards points with FTD.

-Earn 2,000 Best Western Rewards points and save $58 with American Cellars Wine Club.

Ways to Redeem Points

–Reward nights at qualifying hotels range from 8,000 to 36,000 points.  A room upgrade is 4,000 points.

–Purchase a Best Western Rewards Travel Card.  A $25 card is 6,000 points and a $250 card is 60,000 points.  These are valid at all Best Westerns and never expire.

–Redeem for a variety of gift cards available for different levels of points.  For instance, a $100 Target gift card is 26,000 points while a $25 Walmart gift card is 6,500 points.

–Redeem 6,500 points for $25 gift cards at several different restaurants include Applebee’s, Red Lobster and Starbucks.

–Rent a car from Avis for one day from 15,800 to 18,300 points depending on the size of the car.

-Spend 6,500 for a $25 gas card from Shell or Exxon or 13,000 points for a $50 gas card.

–Use points to purchase merchandise from a Blu Ray disc player for 70,000 points to a Black & Decker cordless screwdriver for 6,900 points.

Rewards can also be used for theme park tickets and charities.

From April 17th through June 30th 2011, stay three separate times at a Best Western and get a $50 Best Western Travel Card.

Are you part of a hotel rewards program?  What is your favorite one?  Have you used Best Western Rewards?
