ING DIRECT is at it again!
To help celebrate our country’s independence, ING DIRECT is offering up some juicy deals to help you achieve financial independence. As our country’s independence was declared in 1776, you’ll find many of the offers play of the ’76 theme.
Hurry up and check out the offers as they as are only around June 30th thru 11:59 pm ET, July 3rd.
Here are the ING DIRECT Financial Independence Days Offers:
Liberate from Checking Fees
Customers who open up a new Electric Orange online checking account can receive a $76 dollar bonus! To get the bonus, the new customer just needs to make 5 purchases with their new debit card (or Person2Person payments) within 45 days of opening the account. The customer will then see the funds in their Electric Orange account by August 22nd.
Then there’s a switching bonus! If you then set up and make two direct deposits of at least $250 by August 31st you can receive a further bonus of $76 (Get it? $76 as in 1776?) for a total bonus of $152. Remember, this is for new customers. You’ll see your bonus hit your account by September 10th.
Why is Electric Orange awesome? No overdraft fees, no monthly fees, tons of free ATM’s, and more!
We opened up an Electric Orange account. It’s a nice way to get quicker access to the money in your savings (after a transfer online) and I’ve found that the ATM locations are way more abundant than the brick-and-mortar bank I have checking with. Electric Orange also offers up interest earnings for the money you keep in checking! Being able to send paper checks via Electric Orange even helped us when we ran out of traditional checks. You can even scan your checks into your account.
Investing for Financial Freedom
If you open up a new ShareBuilder investing account you will get a $76 account bonus. Your new account must be opened with $3,500 (there’s no minimum to open an account but to get this bonus you need to put in $3,5000). You’ll see your bonus hit your account about 4-6 after your deposit.
ShareBuilder offers over 10,000 stocks, funds, and ETF’s. With their automatic investing plan it only costs $4 to invest and you can buy partial shares of stocks. It’s a great way to gradually build up a portfolio.
I do my non-retirement account investing through ShareBuilder (by that I mean non-IRA). I love that I can easily transfer funds between my ING Direct savings and ShareBuilder accounts. Also, ShareBuilder allows you to make partial purchases of shares. Back when even B shares of Berkshire Hathaway were thousands of dollars, I was able to invest in partial shares and claim I was investing along with one of the richest men in the world!
You can open up a ShareBuilder investing account here.
Help Teens Gain Financial Freedom
Open up an ING MONEY account for teens and get a $27.76 bonus.
What is the MONEY account, you ask? It’s a bank account that parents can open up with their teen to help teach them to handle their money. Your teen gets a debit card for the account that you and your teen manage together (so you can keep a watch over their account). You can manage the account online and receive text alerts about the account status.
Open an account and make one card transaction within 30 days to get your bonus. Your bonus will hit the account on day 35, after you have opened the account.
Get Kids Started on Saving
Why should teens get all the fun?!? Open up a Kids Savings Account and get a $17.76 bonus.
Open up a new account for your kids (either you or your kid must be a new customer) and get your bonus right into your account. You kid gets to see how easy it is to save and they can watch as the account earns interest and grows.
Spreading the Wealth of Savings
The fun isn’t only for new customers. If you already have an ING Direct savings or an Electric Orange checking account you can get up to a $76 bonus for referring two friends to Orange Savings by July 3rd. Your friend has to open an account with the referral in the month of July for you to qualify for the bonus (and deposit at least $250 into the account). Your first two friends benefit too with a $25 bonus. After the first two friends you will earn the standard $10 referral.
I already told you about my Electric Orange account. Check out the many reasons I love ING Direct savings.

Craig,
I opened an ING Account last october to start saving for a house. Unfortunately, it’s not growing as fast as It could because of my debt, but it’s growing nicely. I love the bank, transfers are easy to set up, and the customer service is great.
