Frugal things to do in Boston:

Check out http://www.boston.com or even http://calendar.boston.com/ (they give a day by day calendar)

    Here are a few:

Free wine tastings at Best Cellars – Locations in Brookline and Boston – Best Cellars offers free weeknight tastings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m and on weekends 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Visit a museum – Many of Boston’s museums have free admission for a few hours during the week.

Take a self-guided tour of The Freedom Trail – You can take a self-guided tour for free – just follow the bricks.

Tour the USS Constitution, Charlestown – Take a tour of the Navy yard, exhibit hall, and oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.

Bunker Hill Monument, Charlestown – Climb the 294 steps to the top of the Bunker Hill Monument for unparalleled views of the Boston skyline.

Watch a free concert at Copley Square, Boston

Soak up the energy of Harvard Square, Cambridge – Harvard Square is not only home to the esteemed Harvard University, but also to more than 300 registered street performers.

From 5pm to 9pm Friday Night at the Children’s Museum , admission is $1.00.

    Hope that helped!

@ Jennifer – Thanks for the great Boston tips! I’ve been there a few times and loved it. It’s so historic there.

@ Meg – Thanks for your Gainesville article. Now I have another place to check out in Florida!
